Compared with the tropical western Pacific , which Literally teems with thousands of islands, there are relatively few islands in the Indian Ocean.
There are about 3000 islands in all here and about two third of them make up the coral reef atoll of the Maldives. The major islands that offers first class diving which we organize trips includes the Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, the Andaman and Christmas Islands.
These destinations can be divided into two main groups on the basis of their geography: (1)mountainous or hilly islands and (2)low-lying coral islands.
The Maldives Atoll originates as fringing coral reefs that surrounds its volcanic islands, through long periods of time these islands gradually subside into the depth leaving the fringing reef that grow relatively rapid at the rims to eventually forms into atolls. The Andaman and Christmas Islands on the other hand has massive mountain peaks often rising sharply from edge of the seas representing cut off portions of continental blocks.
Many other major cities has direct flights to these exotic destinations.
